I try to get it enough right so that you’ll want to meet me halfway on the rest of it.
My family is blessed with several excellent painters who can pretty much paint or draw whatever they want. What I do is more like crashing through underbrush being chased by bees. I can draw no better than an average 7 year old.
When one of my sisters told me to use acid free archival paper because acid could yellow pigments I wanted to get my hands on some acid. After my other sister explained the importance of keeping watercolors protected from sunlight and extremes of humidity I started putting watercolors in the shower. Then I dry them out and work with what’s left.
Every time I come up with a painting I like, I think that maybe I’ve used up my luck and there won’t be any more. But then I get surprised by luck again.
